When Winter Fell in Love
When Winter Fell in Love
Winter wed the mid-fall air,
Giving way to premature frost,
The crystals with formations fair,
Reveals what can never be lost,
Even when the summer sun,
With his bride named early spring
Arrive with their innocent fun,
Sorrow is what they bring.
The radiant glow melts the fragile snow,
Erasing the evidence,
Of the previous lover’s show,
Even in summer they dance.
Deep in the ends of the earth,
In the form of arctic ice,
Their love glows like a hearth,
A metaphor perfect but concise.
